AI Automation for Carinthian Businesses: Costs

Four use cases with a real time saving, plus an honest cost range and what is pure hype. With my own market survey of Carinthian AI prices.

What does AI automation actually do for a small Carinthian business?

It takes over single, clearly bounded tasks that currently eat up time, not the whole business. My own market survey from 24 August 2026 shows how thin the field is on pricing: of 24 Carinthian providers reviewed, only one, Patric Jauker from Klagenfurt, publishes AI prices at all. The rest work with non-binding first calls, which makes calculating a budget in advance practically impossible. This article names four use cases that genuinely pay off for a Carinthian SME, with a real time saving and a cost range instead of a claim.

This is written for trades businesses with recurring inquiries, law firms and medical practices with appointment scheduling, retailers with similar paperwork, and anyone where the same manual task comes up several times a week. It is not written for a business that wants to introduce some generic “AI solution” without a concrete task behind it; this article deliberately offers no suggestion for that case.

How does sorting inquiries work?

An assistant reads incoming messages from a form or inbox, identifies the request and assigns it to a category or a responsible person before anyone even opens the message. With ten to twenty inquiries a week this typically saves thirty minutes to an hour of pure screening time, without handing a decision over to the machine. Whatever cannot be assigned with confidence goes to a person instead of the wrong folder; that fallback path is exactly what separates a usable setup from one that quietly produces errors.

What does automated quote drafting bring?

Recurring line items, quantities and prices from an inquiry are transferred into a prepared quote template; you still check and approve it yourself. A standard quote that would otherwise take twenty to thirty minutes to type up becomes a short review. The benefit grows with the number of similar quotes: a trades business with five to ten comparable inquiries a week can easily save three to four hours a month that previously went into typing.

How does automated appointment booking work?

Customers book an open slot directly online, and the assistant answers questions about directions, duration or required paperwork from your real information, not a general guess. This mostly removes calls outside business hours that would otherwise need a callback the next morning. For practices, law firms and trades businesses with appointment scheduling this is the use case with the most immediate effect on reachability, without anyone having to sit by the phone around the clock.

What does document automation deliver?

Invoices, delivery notes or forms are generated automatically from recurring data, or details from incoming documents such as orders are read out automatically instead of being typed up by hand. For a business that manually types up twenty to thirty similar documents a week, this work typically shrinks to a fraction of the previous time, because only the exceptions still need a person. The boundary matters here: tax-relevant records are still checked by bookkeeping as before; the automation handles the transfer, not the review.

What does this actually cost in Carinthia?

Far less uniform than the handful of public prices suggests. Patric Jauker from Klagenfurt charges €90 for an AI audit and from €1,490 plus €99 per month for a so-called micro agent, with a premium system from him starting at €4,900 plus €249 per month. At the other end of the scale is SOIT from Graz, which appears on Carinthian landing pages with AI pilots from €20,000, well beyond what a small business usually needs. With me, custom software and automation, for example for quote drafting or document automation, starts at €2,200 one-off; an AI assistant for inquiries or appointment questions starts at €2,900 one-off plus €79 per month for operation and model costs; an agent system with its own database starts at €4,900. All amounts are net as a small business, with no VAT charged. The ongoing costs deserve a second look: a monthly fee covers model costs, hosting and keeping the knowledge base or rules up to date, not just bare operation, and like Jauker’s it runs for a minimum term of twelve months with me, cancellable monthly after that. Comparing only the one-off amount without the monthly fee means comparing two different bills.

How long does building a single use case take?

Three to eight weeks, depending on how many existing systems need to be connected. A simple inquiry sorter with no connection to an inventory or till system is usually ready after three to four weeks; an agent system that links several tasks and keeps its own database needs five to ten weeks. The biggest time factor is almost never the language model itself, but how cleanly your existing data and processes are already documented before the automation work even starts.

What is hype and what actually works?

Works: a single, clearly described task with a checkable result, like the four above. It can be costed in advance because its scope and data source are fixed. Hype is an assistant meant to take over “all customer communication” or “every internal process” without a single one of those tasks being precisely described. Projects like that rarely stay within a fixed cost range, because nobody can say in advance what actually needs to be built. A real warning sign: if a quote talks more about neural architectures than about your order handling, it is going to get expensive without it becoming clear what for.

What about data protection?

With me, inputs run through a data processor under a contract per Art 28 GDPR and are not used to train third-party models. The service in use is named in the privacy policy, together with its legal basis and retention period, not just as a general note. If you want to automate personal data from health, legal or HR records, it is worth clarifying up front whether an agent system needs to run on infrastructure inside the EU; that is possible in the custom-build tier.

How do you get started?

Start with the task that currently costs the most time, not with the technology. In the first call I work through whether automating it is even worthwhile, based on your actual case volume; usually yes from around ten recurring cases a week, rarely below that. The full cost range with all four use cases and an FAQ is on AI Automation Carinthia, and the technical limits of an assistant are covered under AI assistant for your website.
