I measure anonymously which pages are read, with Google Analytics. Without your consent this does not happen, and the site works just the same.

What is measured

Websites for health and therapy practices in Carinthia

An appointment request that asks for no symptoms, a presence that stays within the advertising limits of professional law, and a page that still works with a walking frame and magnified text.

Who opens the page, and in what state

Rarely someone browsing. Usually someone in pain, someone holding a fresh referral, or someone with a child who has not been speaking for weeks. That person is after three things and has little patience: do you treat this at all, when would something be free, and what does it cost. Anything that delays those three answers costs a call you cannot take mid-session. Doctors work under different advertising rules; for them the page on law firms and medical practices is the right one.

An appointment request that asks for nothing it does not need

A free-text field headed Your matter is an invitation to type in a diagnosis. Afterwards it sits in a mailbox, often with a provider outside the EU, and nobody decided that. So the request here consists of a name, a way to reach you and a preferred window. Under the form, one sentence explains why the symptoms are not asked for. The entries sit in a database of your own at Cloudflare and are deleted after a set period, as the privacy notice describes.

What professional law says about advertising

The professional acts for physiotherapy, occupational and speech therapy, for therapeutic massage and for midwifery carry almost the same barrier word for word: in connection with freelance practice, any promotion detrimental to professional standing, in particular any comparative, discriminatory or unfactual promotion, is prohibited. For psychotherapy, the Psychotherapiegesetz 2024 requires practitioners to refrain from any unfactual or untrue information, and it prescribes the permitted professional designation precisely. What is forbidden is the promotion, not the information. A page naming the method, the length, the price and the training stays on the safe side and still answers everything that counts before a first appointment.

Accessibility as an argument here, not an obligation

Honestly first: the Austrian Accessibility Act exempts microenterprises providing services, and nearly every practice falls under that. So there is no legal duty to argue from here. There is a better reason. A noticeable share of the people opening your page have shaking hands, weak eyesight or use a walking frame. If the phone number vanishes behind a menu at 200 percent magnification, you lose exactly the person you could have treated. So the build follows WCAG 2.2 AA and is rechecked with a keyboard and a screen reader, without turning that into a rule that does not exist.

Four details that replace the first call

Insurance contract or private treatment, price per session, length of a session, and whether a medical referral is needed. Those four appear surprisingly rarely on practice pages, although they account for most first calls. They put nobody off: someone who knows the range either calls with real intent or not at all, and either way it saves you time. Alongside them belongs the approximate share the fund reimburses for private treatment, with a note that the amount depends on the fund.

What has to be changeable without help

Holidays, a new colleague, a revised price list, a locum during parental leave. Those are the changes that come up, and they must not wait three days. Either they sit in a lean editing area, or they cost a short message and are done the same day. For a single-page presence the second route is the more honest one. Both belong to the maintenance package from €49 per month, with a minimum term of twelve months, and are not a fresh quote every time.

Price range for health and therapy practices

Between €890 for the Landing page package with methods, prices, hours and an appointment request, and €2,400 for the Company website package with a page of its own per method, per practitioner and per location. All amounts are net. Maintenance is €49 per month and is not a condition of the order. What your existing site delivers technically, the website check tells you in under a minute.

What holds this industry back

  • Appointment requests run through the phone, which nobody can answer during a treatment, and through a voicemail hardly anyone speaks to.
  • The usual contact form asks about the matter, and then a diagnosis is sitting there that nobody meant to send by email.
  • Professional law forbids sensational promotion, while the page-builder templates are built for exactly that.
  • People with a walking frame, shaking hands or poor eyesight make up a large share of the patients, and the site is unusable for precisely them.
  • Whether there is a health-insurance contract, what one session costs and how much the fund reimburses is written nowhere, so every question arrives as a call.

What helps

  • An appointment request without health data

The form asks for a name, one way to reach you and a preferred window, and nothing else. Symptoms, diagnoses and earlier findings are not requested, not even in a free-text field headed Your matter. What belongs to the treatment is gathered in conversation or at the first appointment, not over the wire.

  • A presence within the advertising restriction

No promises of success, no before-and-after pictures, no comparison with colleagues. Instead: methods under their established names, the length of a session, the price, the reimbursement, the training, and the professional designation in the form the relevant professional act prescribes.

  • Usable with shaking hands

Large controls with enough space between them, body text that is not cut off at 200 percent magnification, high contrast, and a phone number that stays visible throughout. Checked with a keyboard and with a screen reader, not only with a tool.

  • Costs and reimbursement written out

Price per session, length of a session, insurance contract or private treatment, the approximate reimbursement, and whether a medical referral is needed. Four details that replace nearly every first call and put off nobody who would have come anyway.

A concrete case

An appointment request for a physiotherapy practice with not a word about the diagnosis

Use case, not yet implemented

Starting point
In this example scenario, a physiotherapist runs her practice alone and treats for seven hours a day. Requests arrive through a form with a field headed Your matter, into which people type their spinal disc findings. Those details then sit in the mailbox of an email provider, without anyone having wanted them there.
Implementation
The form is cut down to three fields: name, phone number or email address, and a preferred window chosen from a list. A sentence underneath explains why symptoms are not asked for and that they will be discussed at the appointment. The requests sit in a database of her own at Cloudflare and are deleted after a set period, as the privacy notice describes.
Result
Requests arrive complete enough for a callback and contain no detail that needs special protection.

Frequently asked questions from this industry

Am I allowed to advertise my practice at all?

Informing yes, promoting no. The professional acts agree in prohibiting advertising that is detrimental to professional standing, comparative, discriminatory or not factual: for the higher medical-technical professions in § 39 MTD-Gesetz 2024, for midwives in § 20 Hebammengesetz, for therapeutic massage in § 32 MMHmG. The Psychotherapiegesetz 2024 requires in § 48 that practitioners refrain from any unfactual or untrue information. Naming methods, length, price and training remains permitted throughout.

Why does the form not ask about my symptoms?

Because health data is specially protected and an appointment request works without it. A callback needs a name, a way to reach you and a window. Everything else belongs in the conversation, where you can ask questions back and where the detail is actually of use. This is not a technical limitation but a deliberate decision, and the page says so.

Does my site have to be accessible?

Legally, in most cases no. The Austrian Accessibility Act exempts businesses with fewer than ten employees and at most €2 million in annual turnover or balance sheet total, as long as they provide services, and that covers almost every practice. In practice, yes: a noticeable share of your patients has an impairment that bears on this very page. So the build follows WCAG 2.2 AA, without claiming a legal duty that does not exist.

Can appointments be booked directly?

Technically yes, sensibly often no. A session lasts twenty or sixty minutes depending on the matter, and people choosing their own slot rarely judge the length correctly. The more reliable route is a request with a preferred window that you confirm or move. If you already use a booking system, I connect it rather than putting a second one beside it.

I am a doctor, is this page for me?

Medical practices have a page of their own, because the medical chamber's advertising guideline applies there rather than the professional acts named here. The demands on the form and the data paths are similar, the rules for the presence are not. Look under law firms and medical practices instead.
