I measure anonymously which pages are read, with Google Analytics. Without your consent this does not happen, and the site works just the same.

What is measured

Websites for trades, construction and technical services in Carinthia

Usable from the scaffolding: reference photos straight from a phone, inquiries without a form marathon and an apprenticeship page that actually gets found.

Who actually uses the site

Not the business, but the customer with wet fingers in the basement and the apprentice on a lunch break. Both are holding a phone, both have little patience. That decides the whole structure: the phone number as the first action, short routes, no image gallery that takes twelve seconds to load. Testing happens not on the office computer but throttled to mobile speed, because that is where the inquiries come from. The Austrian Accessibility Act exempts microenterprises providing services, meaning businesses with fewer than ten employees and at most €2 million in annual turnover, and most businesses in this field fall under that. The build still follows WCAG 2.2 AA, because a site that stays usable with a work glove and a weak signal brings in more inquiries, without turning that into a legal duty.

Pictures are the selling point

A cleanly laid roof, a finished heating system, a stainless steel stair railing. That is what the decision runs on. Those pictures already exist, sitting on the work phones. The bottleneck is never the taking of them, it is the route from there onto the site. That is why every presence in this field includes an upload that works without a computer and without training, with automatic resizing and approval afterwards.

Write out the service area

If you only drive within forty kilometers, write that, with place names, not with a circle on a map. That has two effects: inquiries from outside stop coming, and for the places named the site gets found. What matters is not creating empty location pages that differ only in the name. An honest list in running text works better than twenty padded subpages that Google classes as empty gateway pages (doorway pages).

Looking for staff through your own site

A business with six people has a harder time finding staff today than finding work. A page of its own per open position, with pay above the collective agreement, the working time model, the vehicle and a contact person, gets found through Google job search when it is set up so Google recognises it as a job ad (JobPosting). People should be able to apply with a callback number and a few lines. Anyone demanding a CV as a PDF loses exactly the people they are looking for.

Being able to change things yourself

Summer opening hours, works holidays, a new hourly rate: those are changes that cannot wait three days. Either they sit in a lean editing area, or they cost a short message and are done the same day; with small sites that is the more honest route. That is part of maintenance from €49 per month and not a fresh quote every time.

Price range for trades, construction and technical services

Between €890 for the one-page presence with a phone number, the trades, the service area and reference photos and €2,400 for the multi-page one with a reference section, an apprenticeship page and an upload route of your own. All amounts are net. What your existing site delivers technically, the website check tells you in under a minute.

What holds this industry back

  • The boss is sitting in the van and is supposed to answer inquiries on the side, by phone, because the site is unusable on a mobile.
  • The best selling points are sitting as photos on the work phone and never reach the site, because uploading them is a nuisance.
  • Inquiries come in from across the whole province, although you only drive within forty kilometers.
  • Apprentices and fitters look for employers on their phones and find a site with no job openings.
  • Every change to prices or opening hours costs a phone call to the service provider and three days of waiting.

What helps

  • Usable with one hand and a work glove

Large buttons, the phone number as the first action, a form with four fields instead of fourteen. Testing happens on a real mobile network, not on the office wifi.

  • Reference photos straight from the work phone

An upload route that needs no computer: pick a photo, add the place and the trade, done. The images get resized automatically and given alt text, so the site stays fast.

  • A service area the site says out loud

Places and driving times are written out on the page instead of hidden in a map. Anyone outside it sees that before calling. That saves the phone calls that end in a refusal anyway.

  • An apprenticeship and fitter page as its own entry point

One page per open position with pay, working hours, tools and a contact person, set up so Google recognises it as a job ad (JobPosting). Applications with a photo and a callback number, no CV as a PDF.

A concrete case

Site photos onto the reference page without a computer

Use case, not yet implemented

Starting point
In this example scenario, an installation business with six fitters documents every finished system with the work phone. The pictures stay on the devices, because entering them takes a computer, a password and ten quiet minutes. The reference page has been showing the same three jobs for four years.
Implementation
A protected upload link on the phone takes pictures, resizes them in the browser before sending and asks two things: place and trade. The alt text comes out of those entries, and approval happens later on the office computer with one click.
Result
New jobs land on the site the same day, without anyone sorting photos in the evening.

Frequently asked questions from this industry

Do I need more than one page?

Often not. A plumber with a full order book needs a phone number, the trades, the service area and a few reference photos. That fits on one page and costs €890. Several pages pay off as soon as you want to be found for individual trades or you are looking for staff.

How do the photos get from the building site onto the website?

Through a protected link on the phone. Pick a picture, type in the place and the trade, send. The resizing happens in the browser, so nothing gets stuck in a dead spot either. Approval comes later, so nothing goes online unchecked.

Does a website help with finding staff?

Yes, if there is a page of its own per position instead of a PDF. Pay, working hours, vehicle and contact person belong in it, set up so Google job search recognises it as a job ad (JobPosting). Applications then come by callback number, not by CV.

Do I have to state prices?

Not a must, but an hourly rate and a call-out charge filter the inquiries in advance. Anyone who knows the range either calls seriously or not at all. For fixed prices a range is enough, with a note that the estimate follows after a site visit.

What about the emergency service?

That belongs right at the top, with times and surcharges in plain language. An emergency number you only find after scrolling is worthless at two in the morning.
