What is measured

What a website in Carinthia costs in 2026

I reviewed 24 Carinthian providers: only five quote prices. Here are the documented amounts, the price corridor and my own calculation.

What does a website in Carinthia really cost in 2026?

A multi page company website costs between €2,200 and €4,500 net in Carinthia, a single page landing page between €690 and €1,500. That range does not come from a comparison portal but from a survey of my own: on 24 August 2026 I opened and reviewed 24 provider websites from Carinthia, plus seven providers from elsewhere that optimize for Carinthian search terms. Three sites were technically unreachable and are therefore missing from the analysis.

The most important finding has nothing to do with amounts at first: only five of the 24 providers name a figure at all. The remaining 19 work with the formula of the free, non binding quote. So a business that wants to know what to budget for has to make a phone call first, and that is exactly why this article exists.

Which providers name figures?

Five Carinthian providers publish prices, and their figures line up surprisingly well. Web Bastler from Klagenfurt starts at €990 for a one pager, at €2,200 for a multi page website and at €3,000 for a shop. Patric Jauker, also Klagenfurt, tiers into three packages: from €690 for a landing page, from €2,500 for a business site, from €3,500 for ten pages and more. Genesis Media from Gmünd quotes €1,499 for the starter package with five pages and €3,999 for the business package with a CMS and SEO. INKARMA from Villach starts at €2,500, at €4,500 for the built out SME presence, at €6,900 for a shop or funnel.

One further provider quotes ongoing costs instead of project prices: Basic4web from Köttmannsdorf charges from €29.90 per month for WordPress maintenance, the only published maintenance price in the entire Carinthian sample. All amounts are net; with providers subject to VAT, 20 percent is added.

Why do the other 19 not quote a price?

Because an individual price is almost always higher than a published entry price. That is not an accusation but a calculation: whoever names no figure can align the price with the budget of the person across the table. For you as the client it means the opposite: without a comparison quote you do not know whether you are paying the market price or your personal maximum.

The second reason is more honest: websites are hard to price as a package. Whether a site has five or fifteen subpages, whether the text is supplied or has to be created, whether photos exist: that shifts the effort by a factor of three. That is exactly why I name a starting price and say what pushes it up, instead of claiming a fixed figure that then does not hold.

What does operation cost per year?

Ongoing operation in Carinthia runs between €30 and €100 per month when maintenance is included, and around €5 to €20 per month when only hosting is meant. The domain costs €12 to €30 per year. These reference values come from the price comparison at gecheckt.at and line up with the only published Carinthian maintenance price.

The difference between €5 and €100 per month is not margin but working time. Pure hosting means: the server is running. Maintenance means: somebody installs updates, checks the backup, reacts to an outage. With WordPress that difference is decisive: an unmaintained installation is a security problem after twelve months. How that compares with a hand built website is covered in the article WordPress or custom.

What does it cost with me?

My prices are on every service page, with no inquiry needed: a website from €890, a WordPress installation from €1,900, an online shop from €3,900 and maintenance from €49 per month. As a small business pursuant to § 6 Abs 1 Z 27 UStG (Austrian VAT Act) I do not charge VAT, so the amount quoted is the amount on the invoice.

The entry price of €890 sits below the Carinthian corridor, and there is a sober reason for that: I am currently building up references, and a low entry price is the more honest way to do that than a discount nobody sees. This pricing is a build up decision, not a permanent calculation. What pushes the price up I say before the order: multilingual content, integration with a booking or inventory system, photo production, copywriting.

What makes up the price?

Four items that can be estimated separately: structure, design, implementation and content. Structure means the decision about which pages exist and where they lead, usually half a day. Design means typography, color, grid; with an original design that is one to three days. Implementation is the largest item and scales with the number of different page templates, not with the number of subpages.

The fourth item is the one almost everyone underestimates: content. Anyone supplying their own text and photos shortens a project by one to two weeks. Anyone who has none pays for them in time or in money. That is why this item is listed separately in my offers, so that you can take it on yourself.

What is a fair hourly rate?

In Austria the hourly rate for IT services runs between €80 and €150, and for freelancers €50 to €120. The remarkable finding of my survey: not a single one of the 24 Carinthian providers names an hourly rate on their website. Not one.

That matters because every additional request after handover is billed at this rate. So a project price without a known hourly rate tells you nothing about the costs of the second year. Ask about it before you sign, and have them tell you in which units they bill: to the quarter hour or in started hours makes a difference of several hundred euros over a year.

How do you spot a quote that is too cheap?

By a fixed price under €500 for a multi page website, because that amount does not cover the working time alone. At an €80 hourly rate, €500 is a good six hours. A website with five pages, a contact form, a legal notice and a privacy policy cannot be built properly in six hours, unless a template is filled in and the rest stays standard.

That does not mean a template is wrong in principle. For a one person business that needs a business card on the web, it can be enough. It becomes wrong when a template site is sold as custom development, and generated text does not change that either, as I show with concrete markers in A website from a developer, not just from ChatGPT.

How do you arrive at a reliable figure?

By obtaining three quotes on the same basis: same number of pages, same functions, same question about ongoing costs and hourly rate. Without that common basis you are comparing amounts that mean different things.

If you want to know what your existing site delivers technically before you inquire anywhere: the website check tests load time, discoverability and mandatory disclosures from the outside and names the points that make a quote more expensive. It costs nothing and takes under a minute.
